[ Summary ] Guidelines for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for early gastric cancer were published by the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society and Japanese Gastric Cancer Association in 2014. The guidelines include a total of 32 statements for ESD/EMR management of early gastric cancer, including indications, preoperative diagnosis, techniques, curability evaluation, complications, postoperative surveillance, and histology. In this chapter, we comment on the eight statements regarding complications and postoperative surveillance.
