[ Summary ] This review presents the pharmacologic profiles of the most commonly administered drugs for endoscopic sedation in Japanese clinical practice. These drugs include benzodiazepines, antihistamines, α2‒adrenoreceptor agonists, opioids, and intravenous anesthetics (such as propofol). The majority of these drug reviews are from the standpoint of anesthesiologists and will be useful for non‒anesthesiologists performing endoscopic sedation.
