[ Summary ] Pediatric gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy is a fundamental tool for the diagnosis and management of pediatric patients with intractable GI disorders. Recently, the parameters under which GI endoscopy can be safely carried out in pediatric patients is regulated well, but the system of training pediatricians in GI endoscopy is insufficient in Japan. As a result, the practice of pediatric GI endoscopy in Japan has not spread. Our hospital is a medical system that allows children the benefit from GI endoscopy, and pediatricians who acquire a short training in GI endoscopy perform this procedure. This report introduces the short training system of GI endoscopy for pediatricians and reports our results of esophagogastroduodenoscopy in children.
