[ Summary ] |
The indication for pediatric ERCP should be limited because ERCP requires technical skill and can cause fatal complications. There are two types of endoscope : (1) Standard adult duodenoscope and (2) Ultraslim duodenoscope. If the child is less than 2 years old, the ultraslim duodenoscope is preferable. The particular method of sedation and analgesia is institutions‒dependent. Because ERCP is an invasive procedure, deep sedation using propofol or general anesthesia might be ideal. In our unit, pentazocine and hydroxyzine are used for analgesia, and midazolam and ketamine are used for moderate sedation. |
