[ Summary ] In recent years, pediatric gastrointestinal endoscopy has been performed with increasing frequency. It is necessary to consider that performing endoscopy for children can be difficult compared to adults because a child's body size is small, the intestinal wall is thin, intestinal preparation is occasionally difficult, and sedation is required. However, pediatric endoscopy plays an important role in the diagnosis of various intestinal diseases. Additionally, mucosal pathological examination is also recommended. In this section, pediatric colonoscopy, scope selection, sedation, the attention points, and adverse effects are discussed.
