[ Summary ] The small intestine is a common site of gastrointestinal lymphoma. Small intestinal lesions are particularly common in follicular lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract (FLGI). Double balloon endoscopy (DBE) and capsule endoscopy (CE) are often performed in such cases. We examined the diagnostic capability of CE and its role in follow‒up for cases of FLGI. CE has a high rate of detection for lesions in the small intestine and is hence useful in the diagnosis of such lesions. However, it is best to use CE in combination with DBE where specific difficulties exist. These difficulties could include cases where the histological grade is suspected to be high or if atypical lesions such as ulcerations or coarse protrusions are present instead of the white granular findings typical of FLGI. We also believe that CE, which causes minimal patient discomfort is useful in the follow‒up of these patients to detect exacerbation or recurrence of FLGI.
