[ Summary ] While cholecystectomy is the standard treatment for acute cholecystitis in the TG13, gallbladder drainage is recommended for cases at increased risk for emergency surgery. Percutaneous gallbladder drainage is the most established method. Recently, the efficacy of endoscopic transpapillary drainage has been reported as an alternative therapy for acute cholecystitis. Endoscopic‒guided ultrasound drainage for acute cholecystitis has also been reported, but is not yet an established method. Adaptation and expansion of new methods is expected to continue in the future with continued development of dedicated devices.
