[ Summary ] Enteral nutrition generally consists of artificial hydration and nutrition (AHN) by means of administration into the stomach and small intestine with feeding by tubes. This is a physiological technique but it must be chosen with the appropriate route and catheter in mind according to the patientʼs clinical status, and with suitable equipment. Numerous innovations have been inplemented for catheters to inject liquids or semisolid foods with many types of equipment including tubing, connectors, syringes, pumps and container bags, to avoid complications.
