[ Summary ] When dietitians control patientsʼ nutritional management, the workload of doctors and nurses is reduced. It is expected that medical quality will improve as a result. However, only a limited number of dietitians are currently employed, even though there are many dietitians who would like to work in medical institutions. Dietitians are essential for clinical nutrition activities. However, the number of dietitians who work at hospitals is not adequate to meet the need of most medical institutions. This article reports on the current situation concerning dietitians at hospitals and dietitianʼs activities and their effects on gastroenterology wards.
