[ Summary ] Esophageal and gastric varices are important complications of portal hypertension, often leading to liver failure when bleeding occurs.
Since massive hemorrhaging may result in poor prognoses, diagnosis and immediate hemostasis by performing urgent endoscopy is very important.
Nowadays, we have many methods to treat variceal bleeding. We are able to choose the most appropriate treatment strategy according to the patientʼs clinical condition.
The most important factor to consider in the treatment of varices is to select a safe and effective treatment strategy, taking into account the patientʼs clinical condition and portal hemodynamics as well as the patientʼs QOL.
