Liver cirrhosis is regarded as the end stage of chronic liver diseases. Patients with liver cirrhosis often develop portal hypertension and liver failure. Liver cirrhosis also has the potential to contribute to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. The morphology of liver cirrhosis varies, depending on etiology.
