[ Summary ] Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are minimally invasive imaging modalities by which the whole pancreas can be easily scanned. They are indispensable in the diagnosis of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). IPMNs can be categorized into two main types, i. e., main duct type (MD-type) and branch duct type (BD-type). Each of these types has different imaging features. The principal differential diagnosis of the MD-type is chronic pancreatitis, and those of BD-type are mucinous cystic neoplasm, serous cystic neoplasm, and pseudo pancreatic cyst. Preoperative evaluation of the histological degree of malignancy in IPMN is very important for determining optimal treatment. In this article, we describe CT and MRI findings of IPMN. Furthermore, we mention the evaluation of the histological degree of malignancy in IPMN using CT and MRI.
