[ Summary ] One of the goals of treatment for diabetes is to control the development and progression of vascular complications. While the effectiveness of antithrombotic agents in the secondary prevention of vascular complications has been established, conditions for which they are indicated should be carefully determined given their limited effectiveness in the primary prevention of vascular complications. In addition, since diabetic patients may have vascular lesions attributable to concurrent diseases such as coronary, cerebrovascular, and peripheral arterial disorders, they often undergo administration of multiple antithrombotic drugs. To perform gastrointestinal endoscopic intervention or any invasive procedure such as surgery in those diabetic patients receiving antithrombotic treatment alone or in combination, the recently published "Guidelines on Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Intervention in Patients Treated with Antithrombotic Drugs", which specifically presents guidelines and methods for the continuation, interruption and discontinuation of antithrombotic treatment, is used by clinicians in their diabetes practices.
