[ Summary ] Recipient transplant coordinators have the task of coordinating safe, trouble-free medical procedures to provide ongoing care for recipients, donors and their families through the entire transplant process. Recipient transplant coordinators play roles involving support for decision-making by patients and their families. They also facilitate communication between transplant team members. They educate recipients and living donors on their lives after transplantation and provide continual support for medical management as well. In 2011, the certified recipient transplant coordinator system was initiated. Further developments in the recipient transplant coordinator system are indispensable in improving transplantation medicine.
