[ Summary ] There are several options for performing transgastric endosonography-guided biliary drainage (ESBD). These include transgastric biliary stenting via a puncture site (EUS-HGS), antegrade biliary drainage across a biliary stenosis (EUS-AG), and transpapillary biliary drainage using the rendezvous technique (EUS-RV). Technical success rates for EUS-HGS and EUS-AG/EUS-RV have been reported to be 91 % - 100 % and 44 % - 84 %, respectively. In regard to early complications, stent migration followed by acute cholangitis and bile peritonitis has been reported. Once specialized devices dedicated to ESBD become commercially available, the use of ESBD will accelerate.
