[ Summary ] Interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) examinations of the pancreatobiliary region have recently been developed. EUS-guided biliary drainage is attracting attention because of its clinical utility. EUS-BD employs direct access and rendezvous techniques, which are performed through several approaches such as transgastric and transduodenal catheter introduction. Appropriate approaches should be chosen considering individual symptomatic states. However, only a few large clinical studies have been performed on this technique, standardization of indications and techniques has not yet been fully achieved. We describe the current state of knowledge concerning EUS-guided choledochoduodenostomies (EUS-CDS) and transduodenal approaches with rendezvous techniques. It should be noted that the description is based on current understandings, and may be modified in line with future developments.
