[ Summary ] Procedures for replacement of gastrostomy catheters may be chosen in terms of the type of catheter, the type of facilities where replacement will be done, and the location of the patient. These procedures may occasionally cause severe complications due to "mis-insertion" into the abdominal cavity. Therefore, we must understand what types of catheter are available, and what procedures exist, It should be emphasized that it is most important to confirm correct insertion after replacement. This section describes procedures for home care patients or nursing home patients where it is difficult to replace catheters using endoscopic procedures.
