[ Summary ] After tube exchange for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), misplaced tubes can cause peritonitis. Therefore, endoscopic, radiologic or other appropriate observation methods are required. Direct confirmation of catheter replacement such as endoscopic observation is necessary, when placement can not be confirmed by indirect methods. Transnasal endoscopy is better in terms of producing less patient discomfort than oral endoscopy. Trans-PEG catheter scopes (PEG scopes) are also available. Therefore, it is necessary to select the proper technique based on the characteristics of individual patients
