[ Summary ] The point of X-ray examination of linitis plastica type cancer is the detection of primary lesions and spread diagnosis. We must pay attention to filling defects and abnormal images of folds originating in the fibrous contractions of gastric walls. In spread diagnosis, imbalances of greater / lesser curvature or hardening of the stomach outline are picked up first. Meandering or straighting of the folds, or narrowing between the folds may also be observed. However, even if the cancer cells have permeated diffusely, a scarce thing is on these views at the time when the fibrous contractions are weak. Therefore, when diagnosing this type of cancer, it is necessary to closely observe diagnostic images, comparing double contrast images to those in which air content in the stomach has changed.
