| [ Summary ] | Intestinal endometriosis is a subtype of endometriosis which is common in women in their reproductive years. It is generally associated with nonspecific symptoms, such as abdominal pain, tenesmus, constipation, diarrhea, and melena. This is due to the invasion of endometrial tissue into the intestines from the uterine wall. This condition is difficult to diagnose because these are few specific findings detectable by lower gastrointestinal endoscopy or other approaches. For patients who are in their reproductive years and wish to become pregnant, the desire to preserve fertility should be considered. We report on the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal endometriosis in the lower gastrointestinal tract. | |
