| [ Summary ] | The resolution, air sending and maneuverability of scopes with transnasal esopagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is poorer than those available with transoral EGDs. Endoscopists must carefully conduct close-up observations during transnasal EGD procedures. Endoscopists should also conduct image enhanced endoscopies (IEE) for diagnosis when possible. When employing esophageal iodine dyestaining and narrow band imaging (NBI) of IEE, NBI is especially important. In stomach indigocarmine dyestaining is useful of the IEE, digital IEE (FICE & i-scan) is also effective for examining the stomach. We hope for further developments in digital IEE technology. | |
