[ Summary ] |
We described outline indications and procedures for percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) and biliary stent placement. PTBD is often performed on patients who can not effectively be treated with endoscopic biliary drainage. Puncture site selection rather than ease, it is an important factor for suitable subsequent treatment. Percutaneous biliary stents include plastic stents and selfexpanding metal stents. We must select stents by the region of the stricture, site of the stricture, character of the involved region, and the prognosis. |
