[ Summary ] Gastrointestinal follicular lymphoma (GI-FL) is a rare type of neoplasm for which there is no established therapy. Regimens that combine conventional chemotherapy drugs with rituximab (CHOP-R and CVP-R, for example), and produce high response rates in cases of nodal FL, are frequently used for GI-FL. Most patients with GI-FL have multiple lesions from the duodenum to the ileum. Because accurate diagnosis and accurate staging are essential for the management of this disease, it is necessary to examine the entire small bowel of GI-FL patients by means of DBE or CE. It is also necessary to monitor GI-FL patients as long as possible because of the risk of relapse. Therefore, clinical monitoring and restaging are necessary even after aggressive treatment with these combination therapies. DBE appears to be a most reliable means of clinically monitoring because we can obtain biopsy specimens in order to evaluate the effects of treatment.
