[ Summary ] One of the principal strategies for endoscopy training in our institution is early exposure. All medical students gain experience with endoscopy practice by using computer simulators during their clinical clerkships. For students who show additional interest, we provide advanced endoscopy practice sessions using computer simulators and digestive tract models during their summer and winter breaks. Residents are scheduled to begin training in performing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy on patients shortly after their appointment. Thus, they are able to gain experience in a large number of cases. Both students and residents are encouraged to make presentations at gastroenterology meetings in order to gain academic experiences in the early stages of their training.
