| [ Summary ] | In Japan, polyethylene glycol (PEG) is used as a bowel cleansing agent for bowel preparation before colonoscopies. However this produces considerable negative effect in terms of taste, smell, and dosage for patients. Recently, magnesium citrate and sodium phosphate tablets have become available as colon cleansing agents prior to colonoscopy. We must choose the most appropriate bowel cleansing method according to the patientʼs condition and the ability to produce safe effective cleansing effects. | |
