[ Summary ] | Intravenous Cyclosporine therapy (IV CsA) has been proven to be highly efficacious at inducing remission in patients with severe intractable ulcerative colitis (UC). These patients have had total-colectomies and have not respond to administration of large quantities of steroids. It is important to initiate administration of IV CsA to patients with severe intractable UC as soon as possible. This will help achieve more efficacious treatment and improve QOL. Patients who have become refractory to steroids may be determined by using the clinical activity index and colonoscopic findings. |
