[ Summary ] Tacrolimus (TAC) is a fast-acting, highly dependable immunosuppressive agent which enables induction of remission in cases of severe active ulcerative colitis (UC). Since the effectiveness of TAC depends on trough concentrations, concentrations need to be swiftly increased, especially for treatment of severe cases. At our hospital, we have introduced a method for rapidly raising trough concentrations to target levels, by using rapid saturation therapy. In the future, it will be imperative for us to develop strategies to improve long-term treatment outcomes.
