[ Summary ] Sonographic screening and image analysis of the gastrointestinal tract are discussed. Systematic scanning of the entire gastrointestinal tract, except the small bowel and the thoracic esophagus, is possible by identifying several segments with little individual variability of location, such as the ascending colon. In relation to image analysis, formulating a diagnoses at first glance is not recommended. Precise interpretation of each image by checking the ten pointswe have proposed is a key to devising the correct sonographic diagnoses. Of the ten points to be considered, site and distribution of lesions, as well as changes in wall stratification are the most essential.
