[ Summary ] In the current decade many therapeutic applications for EUS (endoscopic ultrasonography) have become possible. Therapeutic interventional EUS is divided into three categories; (1) injection / placement, (2) drainage, and (3) assisting with performing NOTES (natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery) procedures. Using injection / placement techniques, celiac plexus / ganglia neurolysis and anti-tumoral therapy as a basis, for various procedures are performed. Drainage techniques are used for pancreatic pseudocysts, dilated biliary systems and pancreatic ducts. Moreover, interventional EUS may also provide assistant for NOTES procedures. Interventional EUS-assisted necrosectomy for post-necrotizing pancreatic pseudocysts has recently been developed, and is a breakthrough in technology.
