[ Summary ] Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary liver cancer. The incidence of this condition has increased over the past decade. Recently, the new 4th edition of the WHO classification of tumours of the digestive system has been revised. Biliary epithelial tumours are classified into the categories of ICC, combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma, and mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCN). This new WHO classification illustrated diagnostic algorithms for cystic lesions of the liver. In this review, we summarize current information concerning the clinicopathological characteristics of and treatments for intraductal papillary neoplasms of the bile duct (IPN-B) and MCN of the liver.
