[ Summary ] The biliary system has complex structures confined in narrow spaces. Therefore, it is difficult to correctly diagnose conditions in this area. The high contrast resolution provided by MRIs is an advantage over images provided by CT imaging. MRCP plays a very important role in evaluation of the biliary system. MRI technology has advanced greatly. As a result, we can obtain useful information by evaluating various sequences for the existence and scope of disease to formulate a diagnosis of hilar cholangiocarcinoma. It is also true that there are limits to this approach and it is necessary to diagnose with other modalities. The importance of MRI will increase further through the implementation of 3T MRIs and improvements in MRIs.
