[ Summary ] |
The roles of CT imaging in thediagnosis of hilar cholangiocarcinoma are to identify degree of localization, to evaluate its character, and to perform differential diagnosis. In addition, it is necessary to evaluate the extent of invasion, to confirm whether lymph node/distant metastasis exist or not. These findings are necessary to decide on treatment strategies and surgical options. However, it is difficult to evaluate the extent of invasion using only CT imaging. We should evaluate hilar cholangiocarcinomas with not only CT imaging but also various other modalities, such as US, MRI, ERCP, PTC, POCS/PTCS, EUS or IDUS. |
