[ Summary ] Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) is a difficult procedure. However, the development of new devices and improvements in high frequency equipment have been made ESD easier and safer. Now, ESD is the first line treatment for superficial esophageal cancer. Esophagectomy with neo adjuvant chemotherapy is the standard treatment method for T2,3 esophageal cancer. Radiation is an effective treatment for advanced esophageal cancer. However, radiation field, dosages and treatment schedules should be examined. 5-FU+CDDP is a standard regimen for esophageal cancer. Recently, Docetaxel has been used with FP to improve results. Molecular target-based drugs may be used for treatment of esophageal cancer in the near future.
