[ Summary ] The optical magnifying type video endoscope, employing the Super CCD Honeycomb type sensor developed by Fuji has achieved a maximum optical magnification of 135 times on a 19 inch monitor screen. This is achieved through a unique electromotive lens driving system, having performance in terms of insertion and operation which is equal to standard endoscopes. In this paper, we introduce optical magnifying type video endoscopes and FICE (Flexible spectral Imaging Color Enhancement). It is hoped that this paper may help in the understanding of the structures and advantages of our optical magnifying video endoscope with an electromotive lens driving method. It is also hoped it may contribute to understanding of improvements being made in diagnostic accuracy.
