[ Summary ] Esophageal squamous cell cancer, without minute cancer (less than 5 mm) and type 0-IIb can be detected with conventional endoscopy. Moreover, squaomous cell cancer can be diagnosed with iodine staining, especially with pink color sign. However, Barrett's esophageal cancer may be difficult to detect with conventional endoscopy even when using the dye method. For diagnosis of the depth of cancer invasion, classification of endoscopic type is usefull. The number of iodine staining and biopsy procedures may be reduced by employing NBI with magnifying endoscopy.
