[ Summary ] Terms to designate types of vascular lesions have been present for a great deal of time. These terms are used to identify conditions and their treatment modalities. There is presently some disagreement as to how differing types of lesions should be classified. The Yano-Yamamoto classification is being employed to solve this confusion. This classification may be used to choose proper therapy and as such is very significant clinically. There are differences in current reports in Japan, Europe and America, concerning capsule or double balloon endoscopic treatment. Further examinations are necessary to determine if different conditions may be linked to particular genetic groups as well as being determined by stage.
