[ Summary ] Dieulafoy lesions, an arterial type of vascular abnormality, are a rare but serious cause of gastrointestinal hemorrhaging. The lesions can be located anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract but are most commonly found in the proximal stomach and can be responsible for severe hemorrhaging. Mechanical endoscopic methods are the most efficacious. We evaluate the usefulness of emergency endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and double balloon enteroscopy) for Dieulafoy lesions, and assess its impact on endoscopic therapies.
