[ Summary ] |
Various staging systems for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been employed. In 1985, the Okuda classification was initially introduced. Since then, CLIP score, BCLC staging, JIS score, Tokyo score, and modified JIS score have been initiated. Among these classifications, JIS score, which combines both the Child-Pugh classification and tumornode-metastasis stage, has provided a better stratification ability and prognostic predictive ability than other staging systems. However, no consensus has been obtained to incorporate the JIS score into the "RClinical Practice Guideline for HCCS". It may thus be necessary to create better staging systems for HCC by adopting other indicators, such as tumor markers. |
