Title Eradication Treatment for H. pylori Infection in Patients with Peptic Ulcers
Publish Date 2010/12
[ Summary ] The major cause of gastric or duodenal ulceration is Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, which is a cure treatment to heal the ulcerations and to prevent the ulcer recurrence in these patients. Eradication treatments with PPI-based triple therapy can accelerate ulcer healing and also release the pain due to active ulceration. For open gastric ulcers, eradication treatment with PPI-based triple therapy for 1 week is insufficient for complete healing of ulcers within 8 weeks and an additional ulcer treatment is required. On the other hands, PPI-based triple therapy for 1 week is sufficient to achieve ulcer healing within 8 weeks for open duodenal ulcers, as proven by meta-analysis.
