Title Methods for Searching and Reviewing Scientific Literature to Establish Guidelines
Publish Date 2010/12
[ Summary ] The Japanese guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of peptic ulcer diseases are intended to indicate preferred approaches to medical problems in clinical practice for all physicians. These guidelines were published in 2009 by a committee of experts from the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology. Essentially, placebo-conrolled studies and meta-analysis are preferable for scientifically valid research. However, randomized-controlled trials are used for this guideline. All the literature should be reviewed by the experts, keeping in mind defined goals and employing scientific ally valid research methods.
