[ Summary ] Acute liver damage is caused by various diseases including viral hepatitis, drug-induced liver injury, alcoholic hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, as well as biliary and pancreas diseases. In order to diagnose diseases, careful history taking is very important. This is especially so in cases involving viral hepatitis types A, B, C and E, as well as drug-induced liver damage. Physical examinations are also important. Hepatosplenomegaly, jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy, skin rashs and lymph node swelling are important indicators of this condition.
