| [ Summary ] | Methods to diagnoses and treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) have not always been universal. Therefore, a definition and a classification of GERD were announced as "Montreal Definition" to the world in 2006. A characteristic of this consensus of opinion states that GERD is not only an esophageal disease but also a systemic disease. The characteristics of the "Montreal Definition" are summarized. | |
