| [ Summary ] | FDG-PET is not effective for detection of gastric cancer in the early stages or for non-intestinal histology. This lack of sensitivity with FDG-PET makes it insufficient in relation to decision making for lymphadenectomies. However, FDG-PET may be useful to predict responses to chemotherapy early in the course of therapy, avoiding high morbidity rates and the high treatment costs of ineffective treatments. | |
