[ Summary ] |
The endoscopic features of NSAID-induced large intestinal mucosal lesions are described in this paper. NSAIDinduced large intestinal mucosal lesions are classified as being of the colitis-type or the ulceration-type through endoscopic findings. We developed a criteria for diagnosing NSAID-induced large intestinal mucosal lesion patients. We then used our criteria to diagnose 14 patients, all of whom had ulceration-type conditions. All 14 patients had lesions in their right colon, while 11 patients had multiple lesions, 13 patients had shallow, irregular ulcers, and 8 patients had circular ulcerations. We found7fissure-like8ulcerations in 7 patients, although spiral and stellate scars were found in 6 patients who were prescribed NSAID repeatedly. Mucosal redness or mucosal granular changes around ulcerations are symptoms which are useful for diagnosing NSAID-induced large intestinal mucosal lesions. |
