[ Summary ] Double-balloon endoscopy (DBE) and capsule endoscopy have revealed that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs often(NSAIDs)-induce small bowel injuries. NSAIDs can cause a variety of abnormalities in the small intestine such as ulcerations, bleeding, and diaphragm-like strictures. Using DBE, 18 patients were diagnosed with NSAIDinduced enteropathy. NSAID-induced small bowel injuries showed a variety of patterns indicative of ulcerative lesions, which are observed in the ileum in many cases. The diaphragm-like strictures can be effectively and safely treated with balloon dilatation using DBE.
