[ Summary ] | In this paper, we reviewed various types of chromoendoscopic methods (contrast method, stainig method, and dye reaction method, et al) which have been developed for clinical use and demonstrated their significance in endoscopic examinations. The indigocarmine contrast method is useful for detection of minute cancer, differential diagnosis of cancer and evaluating chronic inflammation of the stomach, small intestine, colon, and rectum. It is important to understand the characteristics of and applications for each chromoendsocopic method and to know how to apply them to clinical use. Sufficient preparation to remove mucous is necessary to observe the lesions in detail and to obtain useful information. Useful chromoendoscopy is based on proper observation, employing conventional views. |
