[ Summary ] A double-wavelength infrared ray videoendoscope was useful in diagnosing gastric malignant tumors and differentiating them from benign ones in clinical examinations. With the aim of improving diagnotic capabilities, a blue display of double infrared ray wavelengths was developed for videoendoscopes. Further developments can be expected not only in diagnostic capabilities but also for treatment. Moreover, this system has been examined for use in sclerotherapy for esophageal varices.
