| [ Summary ] | Endoscopical pancreatic duct lithotripsy (EPDL) is a useful procedure for patients with pancreatic stones. This procedure, along with EST, makes therapy to prevent recurrence of pancreatic stones easier, and makes it possible to insert pancreatic stents into strictures in cases involving severe chronic pancreatitis. ESWL is also an important technique for pancreatic stone lithotripsy. ESWL has provided a breakthrough in nonsurgical treatment. However, there are some difficulties with endoscopic treatment for pancreatic stones. These include selection of type and duration. Further evaluation of this procedure is necessary. | |
