[ Summary ] To evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy for solid tumors, the RECIST guidelines are usually adopted. In pancreatic cancer cases, however, there are several situations in which the RECIST guidelines cannot properly evaluate the following ; 1) situations where contrast enhanced CTs cannot detect the tumor ; 2) cases where contrast enhanced CTs cannot clearly demonstrate the border of tumors, 3) those with duodenal invasion, and 4) peritoneal metastasis without ascites. Therefore, the continuation of chemotherapy must be decided on according to the individual clinical status of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.
