[ Summary ] There is no consensus or guideline for the nutritional treatment of NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) or NASH (nonalcoholic steathepatitis), because of a lack of clinical studies. However, recommendations to reduce the intake of total energy, fats, simple sugars, saturated fats, and to increase the intake of n-3 fatty acids, high MUFA food, fruit, vegetables, as well as low GI (glycemic index), high fiber food, is reasonable.
